Quotas and progress

A ring, what's left and your pace for every class

Just like your faculty's quota document: points, canals, cases, assisted work, lab pieces, finished patients. All on the class card, with your pace against the end of term.

In practice

How it works

  1. A quota is not one number

A class's requirement is often more than “this many points”. Buddy Forever counts each requirement as its own kind and can tie some to the autumn or spring term only (for example 4 Adams clasps in term one, 2 vestibular arches in term two). Checkpoints work too: “half the points by the end of term one”.

    • Points: e.g. Paediatrics 50 points; Endodontics 16 canals
    • Counts: e.g. 10 extractions
    • Assisted work: e.g. 3 periodontal surgeries
    • Lab work: pieces with no patient, e.g. 9 wire bendings
    • Finished patients: e.g. 2 patients
    • Milestones: an item you tick once
  2. Pace: are you on track?

For points requirements the app compares what's left with the sessions you can operate in before term ends and shows one of three states: On track, Slightly behind or Behind. You read a word and an icon, never just a colour.

    How the maths works

    Left in Endodontics
    18 points
    Shared sessions until term ends
    11
    Of those, as operator
    about 6
    Per session you treat
    about 3 points

In a session where you assist, the operator earns the points, so the calculation counts the sessions you will treat in.

  3. Log work without a patient

Lab pieces, assisted procedures and milestones aren't tied to a patient. You log them straight from the progress screen; you don't have to open a patient. Classes with no patient work (the lab-only ones) never enter the capacity calculation.

  4. Done and Signed, kept apart

Progress shows two totals separately: what you did (Done) and what your instructor signed on paper (Signed). Planned points sit on a line of their own. If your instructor gives a different value you edit it; the ready-made points are only a starting value.

  5. If your school has no preset yet

You can pick any of the 104 faculties in the school list; for now only Altınbaş has a ready-made preset. At another school you add your classes yourself: name, colour, optionally a points or count target and the procedures. Custom classes are yours alone and never copied to your buddy, but you can share them with a link. You can also apply to help build an approved preset.

How this helps

    • You see a quota gap now, not in the last week of term.
    • Your instructor's points and yours never get mixed up.
    • A separate pace per class shows where to push.
    • It works without a preset too: you start with your own classes.

The other parts

The five parts are connected: change one and the others follow.
